I heartedly agree: Linux fanboyism will kill a great OS. Why can't we just use what we use without demonizing everyone else?

As a long time Ubuntu Linux user (previously Debian) I would say the whole year of saying is off. We do see Dell offering computer with Ubuntu preinstalled which is great however Dell or even WalMart do not make a certain year the year of Linux.

That said I will be moving to using an Apple system next year because of Parallels virtualization technology. I've found that as a currently part-time blogger that is increasing making more money I need access to Windows to run some software. Not that I would even consider using their desktop full-time. Also my need/desire to work with Linux is handled by Parallels awesome product.

With all that said the Apple platform is flat out elegant, beautiful and professional. It simply can not be beaten at this point.

Yet again, the hype continues. It's true that more users are moving towards Linux, but I'm sure that by 2008 the novelty will wear off.

Open source is nice, but the programmers can't pay the bills by doing 'free' projects. Plus, with everyone seeing each other's code, there's no room for competition. It's all the same thing rolled up again.

We see this with all the 'frameworks' out there for the web. It's the same shit, made pretty again.

I'd say wait until Vienna, until you start making predictions about Microsoft's 'downfall'. Linux fanboyism will be the death of a good OS: Linux.

I think, MS should draw a new strategy, otherwise they will lose more clients.
