My taste in music

It’s funny. I like listening to pretty much songs from any genre (alternative, rock, rap, blues, jazz, country, punk, etc.) One of my favorite bands is Coldplay, though. A lot of the artists in my music library only have one song in there, but not Coldplay, for sure. I have at least 15 of their songs that I listen to regularly, so I know they’re consistent and that I really like their style (which I know many others do, too.)

But, if you were to ask me what my favorite song is, I would have to say it’s “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service (at least, for now.) This is probably because of how differently the song sounds from my other songs, though, or maybe it even stems from the fact that its music video is very similar to an advertisement of one of my favorite companies, Apple.

If you asked me what my favorite artist/band was, though, it probably would then be Coldplay. I heard that their next album was going to be vastly different from their previous three albums, though, in that it would have a much more darker feel to it. I remember Chris Martin mentioning that there would be no pianos in the tracks; I’m not too sure how that will turn out to be, but I’m hoping they’ll be just as addictive as their latest offerings.

Anyways, some interesting tidbits that I’d thought I’d like to share.

Gary, I love Coldplay. I just got the Parachutes album a few days ago cause I caught it in sale (YAY! GO ME!). I’ve listened to it as much as I could. As long as I’m stuck in my room, parachutes’ playing. It’s an amazing album. I think I like it more than the other two, which I thought would be impossible. Anyway.. have you heard of the other version of such great heights? It’s from garden state soundtrack, so you probably have. I like that version a lot too. I don’t know. The feeling of that song soothes me out in every possible way.

Janet, the Iron & Wine version of Such Great Heights doesn’t appeal to me as much as The Postal Service’s. I think for me, it’s TOO calming, and I start to feel like I don’t want to do ANYTHING :). Also, I don’t really have a favorite Coldplay album; I instead buy individual Coldplay songs instead, choosing the ones that I like the most.

My current favorite Coldplay songs are, in order of ‘most played’:

    - Don’t Panic
    - Speed of Sound
    - Talk
    - Fix You
    - See You Soon
    - Clocks
    - Yellow
    - In My Place
    - The Scientist
    - The Hardest Part
    - Shiver
    - Swallowed in the Sea
    - Everything’s Not Lost

Only 2 of these are from Parachutes; to be honest, I have never heard the other Coldplay songs on Parachute before, though, but I think I have a fair share of favorite Coldplay songs already :)
