How does Technorati define what a blog is?
I’m curious, how does Technorati define what a blog is and is not?
If you do a search on pretty much any website at Technorati, you’ll see that they have it listed there. Examples include Google, Yahoo!, and MSN - all of them ranked 0, because they are not considered blogs by Technorati. How does it discern the difference?

Found this but it’s not much help. I think it has to come down to a manual review unless they can see a particular vendor fingerprint (eg. wordpress) but even then that’s not very reliable as many people use wp as a cms …
Chris, yeah, from what makes the most sense, I would imagine that everything that has the footprint of a major blog platform vendor (WordPress, TypePad, Movable Type, etc.) would pass as a blog by default. WordPress is indeed used as a CMS sometimes, but very, very minimally - in the single digit percentages.
I can’t begin to imagine how much work would have to be done if there was a manual review. Yikes! Although, on the other hand, they could have just manually reviewed the large websites, meaning those that were larger than the largest legit blog, Engadget.
Don’t they have to pass a manual review during “blog claiming”?
Yeah, I guess. I can’t remember how it’s done - it’s been so long.
I of all people know about as much as the other people who left their comments here and I know nothing but I was under the impression that if you were added to technorati favorites your blog is suppose to be doing o.k. So this is why I am trying hard to get people to add me to their tech favorites. and by the way King I have a new blog and I want you to please go and add http://dogents.blogspot.com to your technorti favorites because I need those add in order ot join this ad thing I still do not have enough technorati favorites so please add my blog to your favortites I do appreciate your help and visit my blog and let me know through Comment what you think of it? thanks
