Posted by Gary King on June 23, 2006 at 1:43 pm

Okay, they’re more like 2 other blogs that link to this one. One is hosted at Friendster and the other is hosted at Xanga. I’m posting my entries at these blogs, because a lot of my friends use them and so now they will ping back to here.

Games, bowling, and a dinner

Posted by Gary King on June 23, 2006 at 12:25 am

Today (technically, yesterday) was an interesting day. I woke up at 11 am, played Civilization 4 with David for a little while, then went bowling with the ACC people.

Bowling was fun. Waiting for the others to come, wasn’t, though. Jackie and I were the first to be there, and we had to wait for David to pick up Ada and Chuan. Both Ada and Chuan took long times to ‘prepare’ to go bowling, so the group had to wait at each of their houses. Once they were on their way to the bowling alley, they discovered that they didn’t know the directions, so they called Chris - who didn’t even know where the place was, but thought he did. So that sent David to drive around in circles, until he got smart and called me for directions.

Anyways, I hadn’t bowled in, oh, a year maybe, but I did alright. Of course, Jackie creamed us all. Next time, Jackie, next time…!

It was also interesting to see everyone’s bowling styles. I won’t mention each and every one in here, but needless to say, they were very… unique. I tried to bowl as realistically as possible; same with Jackie, it seemed. I think only Jackie and I were the only ones who were actually throwing the bowling ball properly, though; everyone else was mostly just walking up to the line, then sort of dropping the ball from their fingers, so that the bowl usually hits the ground with a thud and then slowly rolls to the pins. I came to this conclusion based on visual observations and also because most of the other people were complaining about their fingers hurting (i.e. David)!

After that, we went for dinner at a sushi buffet place, at Pacific Mall. I go to a lot of sushi restaurants for dinner pretty often, but I have never been to this place before. It was pretty good, but it was very small and fairly hidden away, so I probably would never have found it if Chuan didn’t recommend it today.

Afterwards, everyone wanted to come to my house, watch a movie (I suggested Alien), and meet Sparky. Of course, no can do guys, but maybe next time!

School’s over. Summer starts now.

Posted by Gary King on June 21, 2006 at 3:10 pm

I returned home from high school for the very last time, just a few minutes ago. Exams and school are finally over now! I have 74 days of freedom, until university orientation day. At least 10 of these days will be spent in a country other than Canada. Hopefully I’ll be able to visit every European country before I graduate from university!

Staring at my geometry study notes

Posted by Gary King on June 21, 2006 at 2:14 am

I’m just staring into space right now, instead of paying attention to the study notes for my geometry exam, that’s right in front of me. All of my scribbles on it now appear so foreign to me (although I probably didn’t understand them that much back when I wrote them, in the first place, anyways.) So, I haven’t been as productive with studying for my exam as I’d like to be.

On a side note, at least I’ve used my time to properly tag my iTunes songs, using iEatBrainz. And I’ve been watching a few Coldplay and Linkin Park concerts on YouTube, as well.

My taste in music

Posted by Gary King on June 21, 2006 at 12:16 am

It’s funny. I like listening to pretty much songs from any genre (alternative, rock, rap, blues, jazz, country, punk, etc.) One of my favorite bands is Coldplay, though. A lot of the artists in my music library only have one song in there, but not Coldplay, for sure. I have at least 15 of their songs that I listen to regularly, so I know they’re consistent and that I really like their style (which I know many others do, too.)

But, if you were to ask me what my favorite song is, I would have to say it’s “Such Great Heights” by The Postal Service (at least, for now.) This is probably because of how differently the song sounds from my other songs, though, or maybe it even stems from the fact that its music video is very similar to an advertisement of one of my favorite companies, Apple.

If you asked me what my favorite artist/band was, though, it probably would then be Coldplay. I heard that their next album was going to be vastly different from their previous three albums, though, in that it would have a much more darker feel to it. I remember Chris Martin mentioning that there would be no pianos in the tracks; I’m not too sure how that will turn out to be, but I’m hoping they’ll be just as addictive as their latest offerings.

Anyways, some interesting tidbits that I’d thought I’d like to share.

Using my old MP3 player again

Posted by Gary King on June 20, 2006 at 4:24 pm

I’ve revived my old MP3 player. I’m using it now as a voice recorder, since my iPod has replaced all other use for it.

It’s a Creative NOMAD IIc.

Data management exam today

Posted by Gary King on June 20, 2006 at 3:19 pm

I did my data management exam today. It seemed easy enough; at least now, I can concentrate on my geometry exam, which is tomorrow. It’s by far my most difficult course, probably because I simply am not good enough to visually picture all of the shapes in my mind, so it’s all just numbers to me.

Watched the movie ‘Dirty Harry’

Posted by Gary King on June 20, 2006 at 3:05 pm

I just watched Dirty Harry. It’s okay, but I was really looking forward to the scene where he says “Do you feel lucky, punk?” and then I find out that this scene is in one of the sequels. I never even knew it had sequels, because the sequels don’t include the phrase ‘Dirty Harry’ in the title. Anyways, it was an entertaining movie, but not as good as I expected.

“The Cup goes to Carolina!”

Posted by Gary King on June 19, 2006 at 11:04 pm

As NHL proudly proclaims, “The Cup goes to Carolina!”. Bummer for us Canucks - the last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was back in 1993, by the Montreal Canadiens.

Looking for a new cell phone

Posted by Gary King on June 19, 2006 at 4:46 pm

I’m looking for a new cell phone. Do you guys have any recommendations? I’m basically just looking for something cheap, can make phone calls, and doesn’t look like it was time warped from the past.
