mesh wrap-up

Posted by Gary King on May 16, 2006 at 10:43 pm

The mesh conference has been great, but sadly, it’s now over. I’ve met many new people, and have also made new friends and contacts.

Also, I did my “speech” today, too, and I (apparently) received mostly good feedback. Here are some:

And of course, thanks to the blog posts about me from the organizers:

I received some job offers and etc., and I’ll follow up to them in the next few days.

More photos of mesh were uploaded to Flickr.

mesh photos + mesh is in the Toronto Star

Posted by Gary King on May 15, 2006 at 9:05 pm

Hundreds of photos have been taken at mesh; feel free to check them out.

Also, mesh is mentioned in Tuesday’s (today’s) Toronto Star, in the Business section (C1); it’s the article entitled “Reality Web” (in the print version; online, the title is “High hopes for next-gen Net”).

I’ll be speaking at the mesh conference

Posted by Gary King on May 11, 2006 at 12:00 am

I’ll be speaking at a conference called the mesh conference, thanks to the guys behind it! They’ve chosen me to be one of the speakers of a special event called the “15 Minutes of Fame”.

They also made a post about it - I’m last, but not least, of the list. Just a small excerpt:

Gary is our Special Case winner. A high school student doing some neat things online, Gary turned our communal heads with pure tenacity in getting us to sell him an already-sold-out mesh Student’s ticket.

Stuart MacDonald, one of the organizers of mesh, has also made a post about myself on his blog. An excerpt:

You know how once in a rare while somebody just makes an impression? Well, Gary did that to us. He got us talking, he got us interested. He made an impression, and a good one. We Canadians don’t often “get in there”. Maybe on the ice, in the corners, a bit. But we tend to be fairly reserved and not nearly as assertive as, say, our neighbours to the South. Personally, I think that’s a shame, because some of what we have to share never gets known because our own approach lets it get drowned out.

Happy birthday to me!

Posted by Gary King on May 10, 2006 at 6:53 pm

It’s my birthday today! Ah, how time flies by. I hope to mark this birthday as a special occasion - I’ll hopefully NOW be making regular blog posts, and I’ll try to give my special insight and thought into each and every post that I make ;).

Anyways, that’s all for now. Keep your eyes peeled for some more stuff! Also, thanks to everyone who acknowledged my birthday!
